The Dental Card for Children emphasizes the critical importance of baby teeth, some of which will remain in a child’s mouth until they are around 12 years old. In line with the Canadian Dental Association’s guidelines, we recommend scheduling your child’s first dental visit as the initial tooth erupts, typically between 4 to 6 months of age. This initial appointment serves multiple purposes: it allows you to address any concerns about your baby’s oral health directly, discuss feeding practices and oral habits and provides an invaluable opportunity for us to share insights on oral hygiene.
During this visit, we’ll delve into strategies to ensure your child’s dental care is both effective and enjoyable. Our goal is to equip you with practical tips for brushing, flossing, and overall oral care that cater to the unique needs of young children. We aim to make dental care a positive experience for you and your baby, setting the foundation for a lifetime of healthy oral habits.
